This 3-ingredient green juice recipe is delicious and super quick & easy to make. This is one of my favorite go-to juice recipes and is perfect for beginners as it doesn’t taste too “green”. (TIP: If you love greener juices that aren’t sweet, you can simply increase the amount of spinach and use fewer apples.)

  • This green juice recipe is the perfect blend of sweet and green, so it’s great for anyone who is just getting started with their juicing journey (in which case I’d also recommend checking out my Top 10 Juicing Tips For Beginners).
  • Made with just 3 ingredients, it’s hassle-free and super convenient.

The Benefits of Drinking Green Juice

Drinking green juice has a ton of benefits and it’s one of the easiest and most practical ways to add more greens to your diet without having to consume huge salads (don’t get me wrong, I love salads too, but on busy days, green juices are simply a little more convenient.)

Consuming leafy greens can help improve cardiovascular health and dark leafy greens such as spinach are true nutrient powerhouses, including micronutrients such as vitamin K, vitamin A, folate, manganese, vitamin C, magnesium, and iron. Green juice is therefore an excellent way to establish healthy habits (without sacrificing taste.)

On a more practical level, green juices make it easy to consume a high volume of greens (that you may not be able to consume if they weren’t juiced) in a fraction of the time.

As with everything in life, balance is key. Green juices are thus best combined with a well-planned wholesome diet. If you have health concerns, be sure to consult your doctor or dietitian before you start juicing regularly.

3-Ingredient Green Juice Recipe – Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

The following is an overview of the ingredients you’ll need to make this green juice recipe, as well as recommended substitutions. For the exact measurements, be sure to refer to the recipe card below.

Spinach: the spinach is what makes this green juice recipe green. I love juicing with spinach because it’s easy to find, has a relatively mild taste, and I can use it in many other savory recipes as well (like this spinach and mushroom pasta recipe.) Instead of spinach, you can also use kale or lettuce (if you’ve never juiced with lettuce before, I highly recommend it!)

Green Apples: I used green apples (the Granny Smith variety), but any other variety of apples will work in this green juice recipe as well. If you want a slightly less sweet fruit, you can use pears. Otherwise, ripe pineapple is a great substitute as well (I actually made a similar recipe using pineapple a while back and it’s still one of my favorites!)

Fresh Ginger Root: I absolutely LOVE adding fresh ginger and/or turmeric to my homemade cold-pressed juices. If you know you know you love it as well, feel free to increase the amount used in this green juice recipe. If you’re new to juicing with ginger, however, start with a small amount and then increase it to your liking. Instead of ginger, you can use turmeric or fresh herbs such as parsley or mint.

Nama j3 Juicer
  • A juicer: a cold press/slow juicer is ideal for this green juice recipe. I personally love both my Nama J3 Juicer (which I used for this recipe) and my Nama J2 juicer. They’re essentially the same juicer, just in two different sizes (the J3 juicer is the travel-sized version of the J2 juicer. I usually use the J3 on a day to day basis for single serve juices and the J2 when I’m juicing for more than two people and/or when I’m prepping a larger batch for juice ahead of time).
  • Optional accessories: all other accessories are optional, but I’d recommend drinking juice with a reusable glass straw to protect your teeth. For easy storage, glass bottles are my favorite!

How to Make This Green Juice Recipe (Step by Step)

The following is a step-by-step overview of how to make this green juice recipe. For a recap, be sure to check out the recipe card below.

Step One: Prepare the Produce

sliced ginger

Start by preparing the produce: wash the apples, then pat them dry using a kitchen towel (bagged spinach is usually pre-washed, but if yours is not, be sure to wash it as well.) No need to peel the apples or ginger! Depending on the kind of juicer you’re using, you might need to cut the produce into smaller pieces though.

Step Two: Add The Produce To Your Juicer

Next, add the produce to your juicer’s hopper. Tip: add smaller pieces like ginger first, then add leafy greens and weigh them down using heavier fruits like apples. If your juicer doesn’t have a hopper, you’ll instead start by turning the juicer on, then adding each piece of produce one by one.

Step Three: Start Juicing

Turn your juicer on and watch your produce magically turn into a deliciously sweet green juice!

🌿Tip: either compost the juice pulp or store it in the freezer for later use (it’s great in savory muffins, for instance.)

Step Four: Serve and Enjoy Your Green Juice!

This green juice recipe is best enjoyed right away, in which case I’d recommend pouring your fresh juice into a glass jar or bottle over some ice cubes.

You can, of course, also enjoy it on the go or store it in an airtight bottle in the fridge for up to 3 days (I’d recommend consuming it within 1-2 days, however!), just make sure to shake it well before drinking it.

Recipe Tips

green juice

Here are a few tips to ensure the best possible result when making this green juice recipe.

  • If you can, use a cold-press juicer: if you’re looking for a new juicer at the moment but you’re unsure which one is best for you, I highly recommended looking into investing in a cold-press juicer (also called a “slow juicer”) over a centrifugal juicer. I personally have both the Nama J2 juicer and the Nama J3 juicer (which is the travel-sized version of the J2). If you decided to opt for a Nama juicer, be sure to use the code “BOV10” at checkout for 10% Off.
  • Keep it simple: if you’re new to juicing, experiment with a few ingredients first and then add more along the way. This is the best way not to feel overwhelmed and to find out which fruits and vegetables you love the most. That’s why this 3-ingredient green juice recipe is ideal for beginners.
  • Adjust the amounts to your liking: if you want a more intense taste, add more ginger. If you want a sweeter juice, add an extra apple. If you want this green juice recipe to be even greener, on the other hand, either add more spinach or use fewer apples.
