Watermelon is one of my favorite ingredients to juice, especially during the warmer months. I love to combine it with lime and mint, delicious greens like lettuce, or berries. For this watermelon, ginger, and celery juice recipe, I decided to keep it super simple! Both watermelon and celery are incredibly hydrating and ginger is well known for its antioxidants and other health benefits. Combined, this makes for a simple, wholesome drink that’ll keep you refreshed and hydrated when you need it most!

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Watermelon, Ginger & Celery Juice

Given the title of this watermelon, ginger, and celery juice recipe, the ingredient list will come as no surprise! Here’s a quick recap with a few notes and suggestions for alternatives. For the exact measurements, be sure to refer to the recipe card below.

  • Watermelon: You can use any kind of watermelon you’d like (seedless or seeded). I like to remove the rind, but if you clean it thoroughly first, you can absolutely juice it as well! It’s safe to eat and actually has a ton of health benefits. If you don’t have watermelon at hand, you can use any other sweet fruit that yields a lot of juice, such as oranges or pineapple!
  • Celery: while celery is hydrating and an excellent vegetable to add to your diet, it does have a bit of a unique taste that not everyone will love (hence why I like to combine it with sweeter fruits!) If you’ve never tried celery juice, I’d recommend starting with a smaller amount and then adding more to taste. Alternatively, you can use other, milder tasting, greens like lettuce (one of my other favorite ways to enjoy watermelon juice is with butter lettuce.)
  • Ginger: ginger adds a bit of a pungent taste to this juice recipe. You can omit and/or adjust the amount used if desired! Instead (or in addition to) ginger, you can also add fresh herbs like mint or fruits like limes.

Recommended Juicer & Other Equipment

To make watermelon, ginger, and celery juice, you’ll need a juicer. My favorite juicer is the Nama J2 Cold-Pressed Juicer. For this specific juice, I used it with the extra large hopper so I wouldn’t need to refill it (it’s large enough to fit half of an entire watermelon!)

Nama J2 Juicer XL

You can, of course, use any juicer you’d like! But if you happen to be looking for a new juicer, I’d highly recommend the Nama J2 Juicer or the XL version of the same juicer, which comes with a larger hopper and additional accessories.

TIP: use my code “BOV10” at checkout for $60 OFF the Nama J2 Juicer and 10% OFF all other Nama appliances and accessories.

Here are a few other accessories that I recommend:

  • Glass jars or bottles: I love serving fresh juice in glasses or jars. For easy storage and for when I’m on the go, I love using glass bottles.
  • Reusable straws: to protect my teeth from too much acidity, I like to drink juice using a reusable straw.
  • Ice cube trays: leftover juice can be stored in an ice cube tray. You can then either let the cubes thaw in the fridge overnight or add them to water or sparkling water.

💡 How to juice without a juicer

While I personally love my juicer and it’s been one of the best investments for my overall health and wellbeing, I completely understand that a high quality juicer is not something that everyone can afford (even with a payment plan.) Rather than buying a cheaper, low quality juicer that may not stand the test of time, I’d recommend using a blender or food processor (or even just an immersion stick blender) to blend your ingredients and then filtering them using a nut milk bag or a cheesecloth. You’ll need to chop your produce first and it might get a little messier, but it’ll do the trick!

How to Make this Watermelon, Ginger & Celery Juice Step by Step

Start by cutting your produce into pieces that will fit in your juicer’s hopper, then add the pieces to the hopper. NOTE: If you’re using a juicer that doesn’t have a hopper, you may need to cut them into even smaller pieces to then add them one by one once your juicer is turned on.

juice being juiced

Turn on your juicer and as it starts filling with fresh juicer, open the spout to collect the juice. If desired, you can use a strainer to strain out any pulp, but this step is optional and depends on your personal preference!

What to do with the pulp? Ideally, either compost the pulp or keep it in the freezer for later use (to add extra fiber to savory muffins, for instance.)

Once ready, serve your watermelon, ginger, and celery juice in glass jars or bottles adding a few ice cubes to make it extra refreshing.

Storage & Recipe Tips

  • Storage: store leftover watermelon, ginger, and celery juice in an airtight container or bottle in the fridge for up to 3 days, but please note that since homemade juice is not pasteurized, it’s best consumed right away or as quickly as possible! You can also store your juice in ice cube trays to keep it fresh for much longer.
  • I’d recommend cleaning (or at least rinsing off) your juicer right away! It only takes a couple of minutes and will make the cleaning process much easier.
