Juice – Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
The following is an overview of the ingredients you’ll need to make this juice recipe, as well as recommended substitutions. For the exact measurements, be sure to refer to the recipe card below.

- Beets: beets are the star of this juice recipe thanks to their numerous health benefits and gorgeous ruby color. Instead of beets, you could also use purple carrots.
- Kiwifruit: consuming a kiwi a day is associated with potential improvements to our immune system, heart health, and skin health. In this daily beet juice recipe, it also adds a little extra sweetness. You can use a green or golden kiwifruit, but if you don’t have any at hand, you can either omit or replace with a tangerine.
- Ginger: ginger is a true superfood and I love adding it to fresh juice recipes! It’s associated with improved blood sugar regulation, menstrual cramp relief, and a reduced risk of heart disease among other benefits. Instead (or in addition to) ginger, you can use turmeric root.

- Celery: even though claims of celery juice being a miracle potion are largely exaggerated, celery does have hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties that make it an excellent addition to your daily juice recipes, including this daily beet juice.
- Lemon: the lemon adds a little extra vitamin c to this recipe (among other evidence-based benefits.) Feel free to either omit or use lime, grapefruit, tangerine, or an extra kiwifruit instead.
- Green Apple: I love using green apples such as the Granny Smith variety because they add sweetness without being overly sweet. You can, of course, use any variety you’d like. Instead of an apple, you could also use an orange, a pear, or a pineapple.
- Parsley: parsley is rich in antioxidants, has antibacterial properties, and is associated with improved bone and heart health. Other herbs that go well with cold-pressed juices are cilantro, mint, and basil.
Recommended Equipment

- A juicer: a cold press/slow juicer is ideal for this juice recipe. I personally love both my Nama J2 juicer and my Nama J3 juicer (the J3 is the travel sized version of the J2 and it’s perfect for single serve juices – it’s the one I used for this daily beet juice recipe).
- Optional accessories: all other accessories are optional, but I’d recommend drinking juice with a reusable glass straw to protect your teeth. For easy storage, glass bottles are my favorite!

How to Make This Beetroot Juice Recipe (Step by Step)
The following is a step-by-step overview of how to make this juice recipe. For a recap, be sure to check out the recipe card below.
Prepare the Produce

Start by preparing the produce: wash the apple, beets, celery, parsley, kiwifruit, and ginger, then pat them dry using a kitchen towel. No need to peel any of the produce other than the lemon, but I like to cut off the ends of the kiwifruit, beets, and celery. For the celery, feel free to juice the leaves or not (I alternate, juicing them only sometimes!) Be sure to remove the peel and seeds from the lemon.
Add The Prepared Produce To Your Juicer

Add the produce to your juicer’s hopper (if your juicer doesn’t have a hopper, start by turning the juicer on, then adding each piece one by one.)
🌿Tip: Always add smaller ingredients like herbs and roots first, then add heavier and larger ingredients second. In the case of this daily beet juice recipe, for instance, add the ginger, parsley, and lemon first.
Start Juicing

Turn your juicer on, sit back and let the juicer do all the work!

🌿Tip: You can additionally strain your juice for an even smoother end result.

Step Four: Serve and Enjoy Your Beetroot Juice!

If you’re planning on drinking your beet juice right away, pour it into a glass jar or bottle over some ice cubes. If you’re planning on drinking it later (thought I’d recommend not waiting more than 2-3 days), store it in an airtight bottle in the fridge, then shake well before consuming it.

What to do with the juice pulp

You can either compost the beet juice’s pulp or use it in savory muffin recipes. If you’re not using it right away, store it in the freezer for later use.
Daily Beet Juice – Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a blender instead of a juicer?
Yes, but you’ll need to strain the juice using a nut milk bag or a cheesecloth before drinking it. Juices and smoothies are not the same, so simply blending the same ingredients without straining them won’t guarantee the end result will taste good!
Which juicer do you recommend?
I personally love Nama juicers the best. For smaller kitchens, traveling, and single servings, I recommend the Nama J3 Juicer. Otherwise, the Nama J2 is my overall favorite (you can read my full review here.) If you’re looking for an appliance that’s both a juicer and a high speed blender, then I’d recommend the Nama C2. You can view them all here. TIP: Use the code “BOV10” at checkout for a 10% OFF.
Is it OK to consume beets raw?
Yes! Beets can be eaten raw, but because they’re quite hard, most prefer eating them cooked. That’s also why juicing them is an excellent way to consume beets raw, since extracting the juice means texture isn’t an issue.

Such a delicious juice recipe!
So glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
Was a bit tart for me and tasted a bit earthy. Perhaps I peel the beets and use a different apple?
Hi Vern! Beets do tend to taste a bit earthy, but the sweetness of the fruits usually balances it out. Yes, you could try peeling the beets, using fewer beets and/or using a sweeter apple variety. Let me know if you try any of those options:) Otherwise, you could also try my sweet beet root juice recipe.
So good! Love beets in fresh juice!
